Jörg Haider, der österreichische Patriot, ist tot.

Der Kärntner Landeshauptmann und BZÖ-Chef ist in den frühen Morgenstunden dieses Samstags bei einem Verkehrunfall ums Leben gekommen. Laut Polizei und Rettung hatte der 58-Jährige keine Überlebenschance, und erlag seinen Brust- und Kopfverletzungen noch am Unfallort. Haider hinterlässt eine Frau und zwei Töchter.

Tiefe Trauer und Betroffenheit herrscht im ganzen Land und in der Landespolitik;
Petzner: "Für uns ist das wie ein Weltuntergang. Ich habe meinen besten Freund verloren. Es ist unbeschreiblich. Er war soetwas wie ein Lebensmensch für mich. Wir müssen jetzt dankbar sein - für das, was gewesen ist und was er geleistet hat. Er war ein ganz toller Mensch - jeder, der ihn gekannt hat, weiß das. Er war ein toller Politiker, ein toller Landeshauptmann, der gerade wieder auf dem Weg war zu einer ganz großen und tollen Zeit, die jetzt so abrupt endet. Man müsse dankbar sein - für das, was er für das Land Kärnten und für Österreich geleistet hat. Wir müssen gemeinsam nach vorne schauen und schauen, dass wir seinen Auftrag, für die Leute da zu sein, auch weitertragen und fortsetzen."
Dörfer: "In Kärnten ist die Sonne vom Himmel gefallen. Ich habe einen Lebensfreund verloren."
Westenthaler: Eeiner der größten Politiker der österreichischen Nachkriegsgeschichte." Mit den Tränen kämpfend, unterstrich er vor allem Haiders "Große Menschlichkeit." Er habe "für das Land unendlich viel bewegt" - und "vor Ideen, vor Lebensenergie gesprüht."
Schüssel: "Hochbegabter Politiker mit Leib und Seele. Er hat seine Ziele stets mit Leidenschaft und großer Zielstrebigkeit verfolgt. Haider war ein engagierter Sozialpolitiker der zuhören konnte, der sich den Menschen verbunden fühlte und das auch vorlebte."
Glawischnig: "Haider war eine der prägendsten politischen Figuren in Österreichs Innenpolitik in den letzten Jahrzehnten, hat aber auch entschieden polarisiert."
Martinez: "Die politische Welt steht heute still."
Faymann: "Haider war ein Ausnahmepolitiker, der die Politik in Kärnten und darüber hinaus in ganz Österreich über Jahre hinweg geprägt habe."
Strache: "Mit seinem Ableben verliert die Republik einen großartigen Politiker. Landeshauptmann Jörg Haider war eine der prägendsten Politikerpersönlichkeiten der zweiten Republik. Haider habe seit dem Jahr 1986 die österreichische Innenpolitik nachhaltig geprägt."
Kardinal Schönborn: "Der Tod stellt uns alle vor die letzten Fragen, denen gegenüber die vorletzten Fragen - so wichtig sie sind - ihre Bedeutung verlieren. In diesem Sinn bete ich für Jörg Haider, für seine Familie und für das Land, dem er als Landeshauptmann zu dienen bemüht war."
van der Bellen: "Jörg Haider und mich trennten Welten in Inhalt wie im Stil der Politik. Gerade deshalb geht mir sein plötzlicher Tod sehr nahe. Er war ein außergewöhnlicher Politiker, hochbefähigt, Menschen zu begeistern und für sich einzunehmen."

Warner Home Video veröffentlicht Dirty Harry als
Ultimate Collectors Edition Box Set auf Blu-Ray und DVD

Warner Home Video hat die Details der Dirty Harry Ultimate CE bekanntgegeben.
Bonusinhalt der Box wird sein; eine Clint Eastwood Dokumentation; Out of the Shadows, ein 40 seitiges Sammlerbuch, eine Brieftasche, 5 Lobby Poster Cards mit einer exklusiven CE Karte, ein Scorpio Poster mit Karte von San Francisco und niemals gesehene Produktions-Korrespondenz.
Die BR-Box beinhaltet 6-Discs, und die DVD-Box 7 Discs, dies hat damit zu tun das Teil 1 auf DVD als 2-Disc Edition erscheint, weil der Film und die Extras seperat sind, was bei der BR nicht nötig ist.

Infos bzgl. Audio, Untertitel und Bild liegen noch keine vor. Aber vermutlich englischer Ton, englische Untertitel, alle Filme anamorph und 1080p bei den Blu-Ray's.

Desweiteren soll nur der Erste Teil als Einzel-Veröffentlichung erscheinen. Alle anderen Teile sollen nur in der Box erwerbar sein.
Erscheinungstermin der Box und der Einzel-Veröffentlichung ist am 3. Juni 08, sollte es nicht wieder Verzögerungen geben (Dirty Harry ist auf BR und DVD, seit 2 Jahren angekündigt).

Warner Home Video verspricht 10 Blu-Rays mit Buch

Warner will 2008 10 Blu-Rays mit Buch als Sammleredition veröffentlichen. Geplant sind am 25. März 08 Bonnie and Clyde und am 3. Juni 08 Dirty Harry. Desweitern Woodstock, Harry Potter, Blade Runner, Gone with the Wind und North by Northwest.

War is Over!

Der HD-Formatkrieg ist vorbei, Blu-Ray hat gewonnen. Was uns von der HD-DVD bleibt ist fraglich, aber im Homevideo-Markt ist sie endgültig gestorben, da nun alle Hollywood Major Studios in das BD-Lager gewechselt haben.
Fest steht zurzeit das die HD-DVD auf jeden Fall bestehen bleibt als XBox 360 Medium, und es werden auch weiterhin Laptops ausgestattet mit HD-DVD Laufwerken. Vielleicht wird die HD-DVD zumindest im PC Bereich einen Platz einnehmen. Wenn Ihr mehr lesen wollt zu dem ganzen, einfach hier klicken.

Blu-ray Backers Respond to Toshiba Announcement

Sony and the Blu-ray Disc Association praised Toshiba's move to cease production and development of HD DVD hardware.
"We in the Blu-ray Disc Association are very happy that this long format war is officially over," said Andy Parsons, BDA Promotions Committee chairman. "Now the task ahead for our member companies is to promote the Blu-ray Disc format as the best way to bring premier quality high-definition content into consumers' lives."
Primary Blu-ray backer Sony issued a separate official statement: "Overwhelming support from all the relevant industries, including Hollywood studios, consumer electronics and IT companies, retailers and video rental stores, is clear proof that consumers have chosen Blu-ray as the next-generation optical disc format. We believe that a single format will benefit both consumers and the industry and will accelerate the expansion of the market."

Toshiba Announces Discontinuation of HD DVD Businesses
TOKYO – Toshiba Corporation today announced that it has undertaken a thorough review of its overall strategy for HD DVD and has decided it will no longer develop, manufacture and market HD DVD players and recorders. This decision has been made following recent major changes in the market. Toshiba will continue, however, to provide full product support and after-sales service for all owners of Toshiba HD DVD products. HD DVD was developed to offer consumers access at an affordable price to high-quality, high definition content and prepare them for the digital convergence of tomorrow where the fusion of consumer electronics and IT will continue to progress.
"We carefully assessed the long-term impact of continuing the so-called 'next-generation format war' and concluded that a swift decision will best help the market develop," said Atsutoshi Nishida, President and CEO of Toshiba Corporation. "While we are disappointed for the company and more importantly, for the consumer, the real mass market opportunity for high definition content remains untapped and Toshiba is both able and determined to use our talent, technology and intellectual property to make digital convergence a reality."
Toshiba will continue to lead innovation, in a wide range of technologies that will drive mass market access to high definition content. These include high capacity NAND flash memory, small form factor hard disk drives, next generation CPUs, visual processing, and wireless and encryption technologies. The company expects to make forthcoming announcements around strategic progress in these convergence technologies. Toshiba will begin to reduce shipments of HD DVD players and recorders to retail channels, aiming for cessation of these businesses by the end of March 2008. Toshiba also plans to end volume production of HD DVD disk drives for such applications as PCs and games in the same timeframe, yet will continue to make efforts to meet customer requirements. The company will continue to assess the position of notebook PCs with integrated HD DVD drives within the overall PC business relative to future market demand.
This decision will not impact on Toshiba's commitment to standard DVD, and the company will continue to market conventional DVD players and recorders. Toshiba intends to continue to contribute to the development of the DVD industry, as a member of the DVD Forum, an international organization with some 200 member companies, committed to the discussion and defining of optimum optical disc formats for the consumer and the related industries.
Toshiba also intends to maintain collaborative relations with the companies who joined with Toshiba in working to build up the HD DVD market, including Universal Studios, Paramount Pictures, and DreamWorks Animation and major Japanese and European content providers on the entertainment side, as well as leaders in the IT industry, including Microsoft, Intel, and HP. Toshiba will study possible collaboration with these companies for future business opportunities, utilizing the many assets generated through the development of HD DVD.

Samsung to Focus on Blu-ray

Samsung Electronics has revealed that they will start focusing on production of Blu-ray hardware due to recent movements in the high definition movie market. An official with the company stated, "Samsung is expected to show more interests in Blu-ray products than rival HD DVD."
The company had recently released the dual format BD-UP5000 with plans to release another shortly. Samsung was the first company to release a Blu-ray player when the format launched, and has continued to release players for the format. Seen as a win for the HD DVD group, Samsung released a dual format player which was met with much criticism. It appears now that Samsung will get back to their roots and focus on Blu-ray production.

Paramount goes Blu-ray

The last domino of the format war has fallen: Paramount has officially announced it will align with Blu-ray and begin releasing titles on the format.
"We are pleased that the industry is moving to a single high-definition format, as we believe it is in the best interest of the consumer," the studio said via a statement issued Wednesday to The Hollywood Reporter.
"As we look to (begin) releasing our titles on Blu-ray, we will monitor consumer adoption and determine our release plans accordingly."
The studio did not issue any further details regarding a timeframe for the transition, nor any specific title announcements. Also absent in Paramount's statement was any mention of subsidiary DreamWorks, although it is widely expected that the company (including DreamWorks Animation) will follow its corporate parent and begin releasing titles on Blu-ray.

Universal Studios goes Blu-ray

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release its titles on Blu-ray. Though details of the studio's transition away from HD DVD were still sketchy at press time, Universal Studios Home Entertainment President Craig Kornblau officially confirmed the move in a just issued statement:
"The path for widespread adoption of the next-generation platform has finally become clear. Universal will continue its aggressive efforts to broaden awareness for hi-def’s unparalleled offerings in interactivity and connectivity, at an increasingly affordable price. The emergence of a single, high-definition format is cause for consumers, as well as the entire entertainment industry, to celebrate. While Universal values the close partnership we have shared with Toshiba, it is time to turn our focus to releasing new and catalog titles on Blu-ray."
Universal was the format's most ardent studio backer, having released titles on HD DVD exclusively since the format's inception.

Time to go online!

Es war eine Menge Arbeit, und letztendlich hat es sich doch ausgezahlt.
Mein Hobby ist das Sammeln von limitierten und schönen DVD-Sammlerstücken. Daher will ich ab heute über die neuesten und schönsten DVD- und HD-Sammlerstücke berichten. Vorrangig sind hier "Limitierte Editionen", "Special Editionen", Importe aus Asien, Amerika und UK, Criterions, Superbits, Blu-Rays, HD-DVDs etc..
Noch zu erwähnen wäre, die Seite befindet sich noch immer im Aufbau, also lasst Euch überraschen was die Zukunft bereithält. Ja, was gibt es sonst noch zu sagen... Ich hoffe die Seite gefällt Euch, Ihr habt hoffentlich viel Spaß beim Lesen und beim Bilder gucken.
